Men’s Retreat – B.L.I.M.P.S. repeat 2020.01.30

This year’s SSCC Men’s IronMan retreat was hosted on the island at the church.  A decision was made to host the workout here.  There was quite a few F3 guys attending the retreat and potential to recruit a few more was the hope. Only 5 PAX joined me in the early, cold, gloom to get after it and start the day right.  Hee Haw couldn’t make it so the plan was for Dodgeball but he had travel delays from the storm – I took the Q and thought would just modify a recent one I have done.

Warm-O-Rama:

We started a little late in hopes for a few late comers. Blackberry did not disappoint! 

  • A quick slosey around the parking area to get us awake
  • Decomposing SSH as introduced by Boomer and then recently done with D2: count was 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 which included: full SSH, half arm SSH, no arm/feet only SSH, mini hops…Wow that’s a great calf burn!
  • Tappy taps
  • And the most uncoordinated Finkle Kicks we have ever seen.  I think the ground wasn’t level or something.  They were terrible by all!

The THANG:

I decided to redo my ascending BLIMPS and had a nice lap set up for the run portion.

B – 5 Burpee

L10 Lunges ech leg

I – 15 Imperial Walkers

M – 20 Merkins

P – 25 Plankjacks

S – 30 Squats

Here’s how it worked.

B – 5 Burpee then mosey to the basketball hoop and back

B.L. – 5 burpee, 10 Lunges then mosey

B.L.I -5 burpee, 10 Lunges, 15 Imperial walkers then mosey

B.L.I.M. – 5, burpee, 10 lunges, 15 IW, 20 Merkins then mosey

B.L.I.M.P. – 5 burpee, 10 lunges, 15 IW, 20 merkins, 25 Plankjacks then mosey

B.L.I.M.P.S. – 5 burpee, 10 Lunges, 15 IW, 20 merkins, 25 pj, 30 Squats then mosey

BONUS:  Again, I don’t think anyone wanted the bonus….

Repeat B.L.I.M.P.S. but with a Bear Craw to the basketball hoop and a jog back.  That SUCKED!

We took a lap around the big parking area.  I guess I called it a “slosey” but Loveseat said (from a few paces behind me) that my pace may have been faster than most of the F3 guys sprints???  I don’t know but will say I tend to have a little extra juice for a final run knowing the workout is over!

But, we were not over as 15 minutes were left.

A Circle of Mary (I believe its called) where the person names an AB exercise but gets to skip it by taking a lap.  Seemed like a few guys (maybe NOT intentionally) took a very slow lap…

I cant remember them all but I think there was: American Hammers, Box cutters, Dolleys, and maybe some type of plank….

COT:

6 PAX got out of bed on a chilly morning.  Entered the Gloom to better themselves: Blackberry, Loveseat and Siri all attended the the IronMan retreat.  Yogi, Ricky Martin (rode from Mallory St on his bike) and Footloose participated then enjoyed our ironman breakfast.

SSCC Men’s Retreat.  If you didn’t go but know someone that attended, Ask them about it.  If you went and need to process what went on, make sure to find someone and share.  I really don’t know how to explain it all other than making sure I NEVER miss.  Its one of the most powerful things I do, possible what men can ever do together!  Lives were changed, hearts were healed, sins forgotten, prayers answered, Love shown, grace received, and friendships made!  And as always, the Meat Market did not disappoint!!!
